Edgee is accelerating with $2.9M in funding
This is a special week at Edgee because we've finally made it official: we recently raised $2.9 million in pre-seed funding from Serena and VentureFriends - read more on tech.eu or sesamers.com.
This funding represents a major milestone in our mission to build a new generation of edge computing infrastructure that serves actual developer needs, making complex systems simple, bringing powerful capabilities closer to users, and enabling teams to ship faster without sacrificing control.
Building for real developer problems
When we started Edgee, we saw a clear pattern: developers were struggling with infrastructure that was either too rigid, too complex, or too far removed from where the actual work happens. Cloud computing solved many problems, but it also introduced new ones, latency, vendor lock-in, complexity sprawl, and the challenge of building production-grade systems that are both performant and maintainable.
Edge computing promised a solution: move processing closer to users, reduce latency, increase resilience. But the promise and the reality were far apart. Most edge platforms were either too low-level (requiring deep infrastructure expertise) or too opinionated (forcing you into specific workflows and vendor ecosystems).
We set out to build something different. An edge platform that:
- Puts developers first: Simple, intuitive APIs that don't require a PhD in distributed systems
- Runs where it matters: At the network edge, close to your users, with minimal latency
- Stays open: Built on open standards, with the flexibility to use your own keys and control your own destiny
- Scales naturally: From prototype to production without architectural rewrites
The journey continues
Building the right solution takes iteration, feedback, and sometimes courage to evolve. We launched focused on one set of problems, and through working with our community and customers, we've learned what developers really need at the edge today.
The funding from Serena and VentureFriends gives us the runway to keep listening, keep building, and keep iterating until we get it right. Edge computing is still in its early days, and we're committed to being part of the generation of tools that finally makes it accessible and practical for everyday development teams.
